And still the muscle spasms go on

Having had a few days of Diazepam, there is still absolutely no change in the muscle spasms at any time when I am lying supine or prone and they seem stronger and more lateral. I am now unable to cope with the thoracic stretch that K gave me a few weeks ago because it is also sending me into spasm and I have severe pain in right anterior chest, so painful it is hard to breathe. I have no idea whatsoever what has caused that, but if I turn it hurts, and I am restricted in spinal extension. Neck is also fairly awful, but as K explained during physio on 28-9-10 when I am figitting and moving to cope with the other problems, I am tightening up SCM. I am still getting fatigued, but have been sleeping better and mentally functioning much better, thank goodness!

K needs support in terms of the spasm management in order to probably do anything further - I need help with the tremendous pain I  am in (upper thoracic), possibly also another big muscle spasm.

The left foot is still very painful in the same spot and no change at all. ROM = Normal.

Hi Isobel!

I know this has nothing to do with your post, but I stumbled upon your blog by accident and had to shoot you a comment.

I have hypermobility as well (Beighton 7/9; another doctor disagreed and gave me a 9/9--point of incongruence: knees). And I started ballet a couple of months ago at the age of 24.

My proprioception sucks. You should see the amount of trouble I have trying to use my arms in second position. My right arm hyperextends by 35degrees and my left by 30, so when the teacher says bend your arm, the result (for me) is a straight arm! But to me, darn it, it's bent alright! And then when I look in the mirror, wow, it's actually straight!

My hips are all over the place too!

Lol. We have a lot in common (well, you're stronger, I've seen your pictures).

Good thing? Turnout is pretty darn easy ;)

Talk to you soon!

Cheers!

Hi Daphne,
Thank you for your email. I am also getting told off in ballet for hyperextending my arm - but sometimes it is just really difficult to sense where it is!!!

You are right about the turn-out, which is no effort at all!
