This blog is about dance injury in general, and in particular, my own personal recovery and rehabilitation following a calf injury. There is a lot about hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Type III Hypermobility Syndrome and the multisystemic nature of my treatment, including documented physiotherapy treatment

The Bowen Technique
Ever since the injury I had been giving myself daily sessions of The Bowen Technique for my injury. It is normally against protocol to re-treat the body within 5 days of a treatment unless there is a re-injury, but since extreme heat or cold are supposed to negate Bowen, I decided that the daily reapplication of ice was in itself a good reason to continue to treat myself daily. I also believe that this was improving the speed at which the calf was healing itself which was confirmed by the physiotherapist who couldn't believe how well I was walking when he saw me ten days after the injury.
